Recent work

Every interior is cut for the car it goes in

Nothing here came off a shelf. The patterns are made in the workshop, the material is chosen for the job, and the stitching is set out before a needle goes near it.

Made here, not bought in

A console that did not exist until it did

Plenty of what goes into a custom interior cannot be ordered. This centre console started as a sheet of ply, cut and shaped in the workshop to sit exactly where it had to sit in that car.

Then it was trimmed in black vinyl, with three gauges set into the top and two stainless cup holders let into the face. Same object, both photos.

One wall of the workshop is covered in templates for speaker grilles and interior trim pieces, which is what makes this kind of thing quick to do properly rather than a one off experiment.

What we do

From a sagging roof lining to a full re-trim

Show cars and daily drivers both come through the same door. A ute seat cushion is worth doing properly too.

Motor trimming

A complete bespoke re-trim, built around what you want the inside of the car to be. Seats, panels, carpet, the lot.

Seat repairs

From a split cushion in a work ute to a seat frame restored properly, with the welds and springs put back the way they were designed.

Hood linings

The job we get asked for most. A sagging roof lining pulled out and replaced so it sits tight and stays tight.

Door trims

Door cards made to suit the car, in vinyl, leather, suede or cloth, with the stitching and the pattern chosen to match the rest of the interior.

Motorcycle seats

Bike seats recovered and reshaped, whether you want it back to standard or something of your own.

Marine upholstery

Boat interiors, in materials chosen to put up with sun and salt on the Fraser Coast.

Vinyl and leather cleaning

Bringing an existing interior back before deciding whether it needs replacing at all.

Not sure what it needs?

Ring and describe it, or send a photo. It is usually clear pretty quickly whether something can be repaired or is better replaced.

The template wall. Every pattern on it is one that has already been cut for a customer's car.

The workshop

Thirty years of it, and still fussy about the stitching

Shannon grew up in Toowoomba, in a family that was in the John Deere tractor business. While his mates were heading for mechanics and panel beating, he wanted to do something different, and a long time friend called Dion offered him a start in auto trimming.

Thirty years on, Dion has moved up to the Fraser Coast too, and now works for Shannon. In that time the shop has had just about everything through it, from Bentleys to Chevs, and a Torana that Shannon trimmed took Top Interior at Summernats in 2022.

He is not one for talking himself up. He would rather the work did it. There is usually a queue of cars parked outside waiting their turn, which tells you most of what you need to know.

"A freshly upholstered bench seat sits, part of a complete bespoke re-trim on an immaculate vintage Holden sedan. The materials and workmanship are perfect."

How a job runs

The part nobody photographs

Most of what decides whether an interior lasts happens before any new material goes in. This is what that looks like.

Stripped right back and prepped, before a single panel goes near it.

Tell us what you are after

Bring the car in or send a photo. We talk through what you want the inside to look like and what the car actually needs.

  2. 02

    Materials chosen properly

Leather, vinyl, suede, cloth, carpet. We work with Australian suppliers, so the material is picked for the job rather than for whatever is on the shelf.

  3. 03

    Stripped and prepped

Old trim out, frames checked, everything cleaned back before a single new panel goes near it. This is the part nobody sees and it decides how the rest turns out.

  4. 04

    Cut, sewn and fitted

Patterns made, panels sewn, everything fitted in the workshop and checked before the car goes back to you.

Can not get a better job. They really know what they're doing. Trust their expertise. 18 months 10,000km later and the seat is still new.
